Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler has expressed his delight towards scoring his first goal for the club in Sunday’s 4-0 win over Celta Vigo.
In spite of the fact that Guler was only given his fourth La Liga appearance of the season when he came off the bench in the 89th minute of Sunday’s game, he still had enough time to round the goalkeeper and score his first goal since making the move from Fenerbahce in the summer.
Late cameos are nothing new for Guler, who has played a total of only 26 minutes in his four appearances thus far. The 19-year-old player has stated that he has had a challenging season up to this point by his own admission.
“It was fantastic to score in such a stunning atmosphere,” Guler said in his interview. “I am overjoyed to have scored my first goal, and I would want to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported me. I am going to put in a lot of effort to make it happen, and I hope that there will be many more in the future.
“Even though this season has been challenging up to this point, I am hoping that things will get better after today. I am overjoyed to be at this location. It is the finest club in the world, and despite the fact that it is challenging, I believe that I have the qualities and the character to be able to rise to the occasion.
With Guler’s restricted playing time, rumors have begun to circulate about the possibility of a conflict between the Turkish youth and Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Madrid, but Ancelotti emphasized his support for Guler after the game.
“He has played very little,” Ancelotti said. “He has not even played” “I had no doubt that he was capable of doing anything.
His skill is very remarkable. He had a pretty nice objective in mind. He has a bright future ahead of him here. “We are absolutely certain of that.”
Guler continued by saying, “When I was one-on-one with the goalkeeper, I saw that he was losing position, so I took the ball to my right and shot.” This was Guler’s first goal of the game. To my great relief, it was accepted, and I am beyond ecstatic.
