As Real Madrid prepares to compete in the Spanish Super Cup, Luka Modric is presently in Saudi Arabia with the club. After putting in a lot of effort throughout the game, he was rewarded with an assist and two vital passes. He began the team’s semifinal match against Atletico Madrid and played 67 minutes of the game.
In light of the fact that the squad has advanced to the championship game, his stay in Saudi Arabia has been prolonged even further until the match against Barcelona on Sunday. However, it is possible that he is now at the location that he considers to be his home in the not too distant future.
A magnificent farewell
In spite of the fact that he is 38 years old, the Croatian superstar continues to mature like premium wine. As he continues to provide powerful performances from the center of the park, it does not seem that any facet of his game has been damaged as a result of his progression in age.
However, it is possible that his time at Madrid may come to an end over the next summer. It is quite possible that he will leave the club of his dreams in order to take the next step in his career, and Saudi Arabia is in a good position to take advantage of this opportunity. He is already in the last year of his contract.
The experienced player was presented with a deal of €300 million for three seasons by Al Hilal during the summer of last year. Along with that, they also provided a team that was filled with superstars, such as Neymar, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Rúben Neves, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Bono. This club is capable of competing on all fronts in a realistic manner.
Modric, on the other hand, did not accept the offer to continue his career at Real Madrid and build upon his history. It has been reported by AS today that the Saudi Arabian giants would return to the Merengues in the summer of next year in an attempt to get Modric from them. However, it is still unknown whether or not they will offer the same conditions.
Another other choice
There is no doubt that Luka Modric will not leave Real Madrid to play for a team that is directly competing with them in Europe. In addition, from a financial point of view, it would be more rational for him to transfer to a league that is considered to be of a lower level at this stage in his career.
Taking into consideration the enormous salaries that Saudi Arabia is willing to provide to prominent personalities, Saudi Arabia is thus a viable alternative. In the Major League Soccer (MLS), Inter Miami has shown interest in his services for some time now, making it another prominent candidate for his services.
It is thus unknown if Modric will choose to join Neymar Jr. and the rest of the team in Miami, or whether he would choose to join Lionel Messi and the core of Barcelona’s golden generation. So far, he is concentrating on the project that Carlo Ancelotti is working on in Madrid.
