Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has expressed his excitement over Kylian Mbappe joining the team. He believes that having a player of Mbappe’s calibre is a significant advantage for Real Madrid.
According to him, it’s far better to have Mbappe on their side rather than facing him as an opponent because he is a player who can change the outcome of a match with his talent and skills.
“Mbappe is one of the best players in the world and in the end, it’s better for him to be on your team than against you,” Courtois told TUDN.
“He is a player who can make a difference as we have with Bellingham, with Vinicius, and adding Mbappe to that will only help us.”
He went on to add, “We will be even stronger with him” while also confirming, “Mbappe has been added to our WhatsApp group chat.”
“We just have to find a way to play with him and help him, and I think he’s going to help us win a lot of trophies and I’m sure it’s going to be a great year, he’s going to shine, he’s going to score a lot of goals and help us win trophies,” he added.
Courtois’ take on Toni Kroos and Carlo Ancelotti
In addition to discussing Mbappe, Courtois also talked about the retirement of midfielder Toni Kroos. He acknowledged that Kroos will be greatly missed at Real Madrid.
Kroos has been a pivotal player for the team, contributing significantly to their successes over the years. Courtois admitted that Kroos’s presence on the field will be hard to replace, but he respects Kroos’s decision to retire and hopes that he enjoys his post-football life.
“Well, that will have to wait until the first game. I think we will miss Toni. In the end, he is a player who has been very key for us this year, his calmness, his passes, his vision on the field and it will be up to the Coach to find a way to play without Kroos.”
Lastly, Courtois also touched upon the topic of Real Madrid’s coach, Carlo Ancelotti. Ancelotti has expressed his desire to retire with Real Madrid, and Courtois spoke about what the players need to do to help make that possible.
According to Courtois, the players need to give their best performances on the field to ensure that Ancelotti’s time with the team is as successful and prolonged as possible.
“As a team, we can only keep winning so that he remains at Real Madrid and continues to extend his career as a coach, but we don’t pay much attention to what comes out in the press.
“We live day to day with him, who is great, he trains very well, he prepares us very well, technically, tactically, and he is a great manager, one of the best in the history of football.
“Real Madrid is a team full of stars? Yes, but our chemistry and relationship with each other is great. We are all friends there and it’s a lot of fun,” explained the goalkeeper.
