Real Madrid’s triumph over Borussia Dortmund last night at Wembley meant Los Blancos have now sealed the prestigious Champions League trophy for a record 15th time.
For many of the Real Madrid stars, it was the sixth individual UCL triumph, which is a feat of its own. Reacting to Real Madrid’s win last night, a slew of former players congratulated the team on this historic achievement.
Sergio Ramos & Varane on Real Madrid’s UCL triumph
Among the former players congratulating Real Madrid were the former centre-back pairing of Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane.
Most recently plying his trade for Sevilla, Ramos posted a photo of four of his former teammates Dani Carvajal, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.
Ramos highlighted the fact that each of them has won six UCL titles, amounting to a combined tally of 24 titles.
Reacting to a post about Real Madrid winning the 15th UCL title, Ramos also tweeted, “A true love story. Don’t try to understand it. Congratulations.”
Raphael Varane, meanwhile, revealed that he was in the stadium to watch the final against Borussia Dortmund.
Currently plying his trade for Manchester United, Varane posted a photo with his kid, who was wearing the Real Madrid shirt. “Hala Madrid, again and again. The 15th is already here,” he wrote on Instagram.
It must be noted that both Varane and Sergio Ramos are set to become free agents this summer, as both their contracts with their respective clubs will expire at the end of the season.
Given their strong ties with Real Madrid, a fan can be forgiven for wanting both to make a sensational return to Santiago Bernabeu next season.
