Lauren Bisan-Etame, a former Arsenal defender who is now a FIFA technical expert, broke down Jude Bellingham’s perfect start to his new life at Real Madrid. She said that even though the midfielder is under a lot of pressure, he seems to be doing well with it.
Bellingham has had a great start at Real Madrid since he was bought from Borussia Dortmund for €103 million this summer.
The 20-year-old is a defender, but he has already scored six goals in seven games in all tournaments. Three of those goals were game-winners.
Getting better when things get tough
Lauren said, when talking about Bellingham’s ability to change, that the player seems very at ease with the pressure he’s under.
“We’ve seen a lot of players go to Real Madrid, and once they put on that shirt, they get smaller,” Lauren told El Desmarque.
“The shirt comes with a lot of pressure, but Bellingham seems to be fine with it. He seems to like the pressure. “It’s great for him that he’s such a young player with so much personality,” he said.
Simple sense
Lauren, who was also an Arsenal representative, went on to say that Bellingham has scored six goals so quickly because he knows where he is on the field.
He also said that the player can spot a chance to score a goal, and it’s great that he gets along so well with Toni Kroos and Federico Valverde.
“He’s only 20, but he’s already scored five goals in the league and the winning goal in the Champions League. It’s crazy. The thing I like most about him is that he always seems to be in the right place at the right time and can find chances.
“He also works well with Toni Kroos and Federico Valverde in the middle of the Real Madrid field,” he said.
Lastly, the 46-year-old player said that he wouldn’t have had the guts to play for Real Madrid at age 20 if he had been given the chance.
“When I was a player, young people who didn’t have patience couldn’t play for Real Madrid. So, in my time, I would never have picked Real Madrid over the Premier League.
“Real Madrid seems to have changed its plan and is now bringing in young players from all over the world. They are putting together kids from all over the world with kids from Spain. Now, I would sign with Madrid, but back then, I would never have done that!”
