- Turkish teenager suffered pre-season injury
- Setbacks & caution have delayed his debut until now
Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler has a chance of making his long-awaited debut for the club when La Liga action resumes this week following Spanish football’s winter break.
The transfer fee for Guler from Fenerbahce to Madrid was €20 million (£17 million) in July. However, a knee ailment forced him to abandon his pre-season prematurely, and other setbacks guaranteed that the year 2023 came to a close without the Turkey international, who was just 18 years old at the time, playing even a single minute for his new club.
In December, Madrid came to the conclusion that they didn’t want to hurry Guler onto the field, therefore they decided to postpone his debut until 2024 at the earliest. Additionally, according to AS, Guler trained “normally” once again on Monday, which indicates that there is now a possibility that he may make his debut this week when Mallorca visits the city.
More uninterrupted training is a positive indication for the bright kid, since fitness and conditioning are essential for Guler at this point following many setbacks that have occurred over the course of several months. Tuesday, prior to the game that will take place at the Bernabeu on Wednesday evening, there will be another chance to practice again if you are interested.
In the beginning of November, Guler was placed on the bench for Madrid’s La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano. However, the game ended in a tight 0-0 tie, and it was determined that this was not the appropriate situation for him to make his debut. Since then, he has been prevented from achieving his goals, but there is a growing sense that his chance may eventually present itself.
In addition, Madrid would be pleased to see Vinicius Junior return to play against Mallorca later today. Following a six-week sabbatical due to a torn thigh muscle that he sustained while on international duty in South America back in November, the Brazilian has announced that he is well and ready to return to their previous season.
“I am doing extremely well, I am fine. The only thing that remains is for the coach to make a decision. It’s all OK now, and I’m all set to travel. Considering what is left of the season, he believes that we have the potential to win a great deal of championships in the year 2024.
