Following the signing of a two-year contract extension at Real Madrid last week, Carlo Ancelotti expressed his desire to continue his tenure at the club until the year 2026.
The 64-year-old manager, whose last contract was set to expire at the end of June, has been with Real since 2021. Prior to that, he oversaw the club from 2013 to 2015, prior to his current affiliation with Real.
In addition to winning two Champions League medals and two Club World Cups, he has also won one league championship while playing for Real Madrid.
On June 30th, my contract was set to expire. According to statements made by Carlo Ancelotti to the media on Tuesday, the club has made the decision to proceed with the move at this time because they are pleased with the job that we have done.
I am not sure whether this will be the last time that I will serve as a coach. As soon as I leave this place, I have no idea what will take place. Depending on how successful I am, it is possible that I will still be here in the year 2026.
“I’d like to be Madrid coach until 2026, and hopefully I can continue to be here in 2027 and 2028 because I want to stay here.”
Prior to signing the agreement, Ancelotti had been connected with a transfer to Brazil’s national team. According to Ednaldo Rodrigues, the former head of the Brazilian Football Association (CBF), Ancelotti was the favorite choice for the coaching position.
According to Ancelotti, however, remaining at Real Madrid has always been his first objective.
“I was proud (to be considered), but it was all dependent on my situation with Real Madrid and that it was all clear,” he said further.
I am permitted to remain in this location since Ednaldo is not now serving as president, and everything has gone just as I had hoped it would. The possibility of becoming the coach of Brazil was really thrilling; nevertheless, I am uncertain as to whether or not they will want me in 2026.
“I don’t know if they will be happy with this decision.”
After 18 matches, Real is currently in first place in LaLiga on goal difference, ahead of Girona.
