Even though the summer transfer window is still some distance away, Real Madrid are being heavily linked with players as the team needs to strengthen some areas in the squad.
Kylian Mbappe of PSG and Erling Haaland of Manchester City remain very much at the top of the list, with the club having everything prepared for a ‘Galactico’ signing.
Another name that has been constantly linked with the Merengues is Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies.
Real Madrid very attentive to Davies’ situation
With Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia both not convincing fully in the left-back position, Real Madrid are looking for an upgrade, with Davies emerging as their top target.
And now, as per reports in Germany, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid are very attentive to the situation of the Canadian international at the Bundesliga outfit.
Davies’ contract with Bayern Munich expires in 2025 and talks over a new deal are ongoing between the two parties without much progress or success.
One of the main concerns has been the left-back’s wage demands, something that the Bavarian giants are unwilling to meet.
Bayern unhappy with Davies’ performances
Beyond that, as per German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich are also unhappy with some of Davies’ performances, which is another reason they are reluctant to offer a big pay packet to him.
“Christoph Freund is leading the negotiations and Davies is demanding between 10 and €13 million for a new contract,” the journalist said.
“Bayern do not want to pay him that money at the moment. Internally, they are not entirely satisfied with Davies’ performance in recent weeks and months and his future development. Davies has to improve if he wants to get the money he is currently demanding,” he said.
Given the situation, Davies’ future at Bayern Munich is far from certain and Real Madrid remain very attentive to the developments.
