Real Madrid acknowledge the need to strengthen specific positions in their squad, which has become unbalanced following the departures of Nacho Fernandez and, notably, Toni Kroos in the summer.
The defeat in El Clasico against Barcelona (0-4) was not only painful but also exposed the team’s deficiencies, across multiple positions, including the midfield department where Kroos’ absence is being felt severely.
Enzo Fernandez on the agenda
As such, according to reports relayed by SPORT, the Real Madrid management is considering all possible scenarios to bolster their midfield.
As per the update, Real Madrid would be prepared to pay £84 million (approximately €100 million) for Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez.
Alternatively, they would be open to including Aurelien Tchouameni as part of the agreement to secure the midfielder’s services.
Fernandez is among the most expensive acquisitions Chelsea have made, signing hm from Benfica for €121 million following his World Cup triumph with Argentina.
However, the 2022 FIFA World Cup champion apparently is not considered indispensable by manager Enzo Maresca at Chelsea.
Real Madrid could capitalise
Real Madrid believe they can capitalise on this situation, viewing Fernndez as their primary reinforcement for a midfield that has been significantly weakened by Toni Kroos’s departure.
As per the report, the Argentine himself would be willing to consider exit options, as he remains uncertain about his future at Stamford Bridge due to the limited opportunities Maresca has provided recently.
As such, it is claimed that Real Madrid would not hesitate to go all in with the €100 million investment.
Nevertheless, the second alternative which would be more realistic is a proposed swap deal involving Aurelien Tchouameni.
The French midfielder previously attracted Chelsea’s interest and has struggled to fully establish himself at Real Madrid, with questions being asked about his performances this season.
In fact, reports earlier this week suggested that Los Blancos would be open to offers for him and as such, a swap deal involving the Frenchman and Enzo might be an option.
