Real Madrid have stepped forward to support those impacted by the recent devastating DANA storm that has caused widespread damage across various regions in Spain, with a focus on the Valencian Community.
In a display of solidarity, the club has committed to a donation of €1 million to aid individuals and families affected by the storm’s aftermath.
This relief initiative is being carried out in collaboration with the Real Madrid Foundation and the Red Cross, which have together launched a fundraising campaign.
This campaign aims to pool resources and bring much-needed relief to those facing hardships due to the disaster.
The funds raised will be allocated to assist those most affected, with the Red Cross overseeing the distribution to ensure help reaches those in critical need.
In addition, La Liga has joined the cause by partnering with the Red Cross to raise funds. As part of this effort, La Liga plans to use its national broadcasts during weekend matches to amplify support for those affected by the DANA storm.
A minute’s silence
Real Madrid’s €1 million donation highlights the club’s commitment to standing with Spanish communities during times of crisis.
“Real Madrid will kick-start the campaign with a donation of one million euros, which will go towards helping the numerous families currently dealing with what is a critical situation, and who are in need of all our assistance and solidarity,” read a statement from the club.
Meanwhile, a minute’s silence will be held before each of the 16 matches scheduled in La Liga’s two divisions this weekend, serving as a mark of respect for the victims and those impacted by the flood.
Due to the disaster’s severe impact, five matches that were to take place this weekend in the Valencian Community have been postponed. This includes two in the First Division—Valencia vs. Real Madrid and Villarreal vs. Rayo Vallecano.
The combined efforts of clubs, fans, and community initiatives reflect a united front aimed at providing timely relief to those affected by this catastrophic event.
