Since his arrival in the summer of 2022 as a free agent, Antonio Rudiger has established himself as a firm favourite at Real Madrid.
The German international has become one of the leaders on and off the field for the Merengues while his all-in style of play has made him a huge hit among the fans.
Rudiger has played in each of the 14 matches that Real Madrid have been involved in this season across all competitions, even chipping in with a couple of goals in the UEFA Champions League.
As such, there were some concerns raised when reports emerged claiming that Rudiger would be open to a move to Saudi Arabia, not imminently but in the future.
Not looking to move to Saudi Arabia
However, now, according to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, Rudiger is not considering a transfer to Saudi Arabia at this point, especially not in the upcoming January transfer window.
In fact, the report states that the 31-year-old would be open to the idea of signing a contract extension at Real Madrid, where his current deal runs until the summer of 2026.
No concrete discussions have taken place regarding a new contract for the former Chelsea mainstay, but he would not be averse to the idea of inking an extension at the Spanish capital club.
Rudiger, as mentioned earlier, is a well-liked figure in the dressing room and among the fans. The 31-year-old has delivered on the pitch consistently for the champions, carrying the defensive unit on his shoulders at times when the squad has been ravaged by injuries.
So, it would not be too far-fetched to imagine that Real Madrid, too, would be open to extending Rudiger’s stay, especially with concerns about David Alaba’s condition.
