Real Madrid were dealt a fresh injury blow this weekend as Dani Carvajal picked up a serious knock in the 2-0 win over Villarreal on Saturday.
During extra time, Carvajal got into a nasty collision with Villarreal’s Yeremy Pino, which saw the veteran defender over-extend his knee.
Reports indicate Carvajal’s fresh blow could rule him out for the entire season, leaving Real Madrid in a state of bother.
Words of encouragement from teammates
Nevertheless, Carvajal has received immense support from his teammates in the wake of his fresh knee injury.
The likes of Federico Valverde and Arda Guler have come out in support of the Spaniard, wishing him luck in his recovery.
“The scream that I learned. All my encouragement and strength are with you and your family Dani,” Valverde wrote on Instagram.
Carvajal, for his part, has sent a powerful message following his injury, stating that he is looking forward to coming back ‘like a beast’.
Nevertheless, Valverde wasn’t the only one offering words of encouragement to the Real Madrid right-back. Youngster Arda Guler, too, wished the veteran defender luck in his recovery.
“Get well soon captain. I’m sure you’ll come back stronger as soon as possible,” Guler wrote on Instagram.
What’s next for Real Madrid?
Carvajal’s injury will force Carlo Ancelotti to deploy Lucas Vazquez as the main right-back. But the Italian will have to find an alternative sooner rather than later.
The upcoming January transfer window could provide Real Madrid with an ideal opportunity to reinforce their ranks in the right-back unit.
However, it is unlikely the club will go after a top target such as Trent-Alexander Arnold, as that option has been reserved for the summer.
