It has not even been a month since the summer transfer window ended but Real Madrid are already being linked with a long list of players who they could try to sign a year later. One of the names atop that list is that of Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Liverpool full-back is in the final year of his contract at Anfield and it remains to be seen if the two parties can find an agreement over an extension.
If Trent does not sign an extension with Liverpool, Real Madrid would feel like his most likely destination. But what if he does end up staying with his boyhood club?
As reported by GIVEMESPORT, Real Madrid are poised to look closer at the possibility of signing Diogo Dalot from Manchester United. That is if Alexander-Arnold commits his long-term future to Liverpool by agreeing a contract extension.
Dalot has developed into a starter at Manchester United since the arrival of Erik ten Hag, after enduring a rocky time under the management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. And that seems to have caught the eye of Real Madrid.
Real Madrid interested in Manchester United starter
Dalot is a regular starter for Manchester United these days, capable of playing both as a right-back and a left-back. He is also a full Portugal international.
Dalot has also impressed this season in an inverted role. So, it is not hard to understand why Real Madrid might view him as an alternative option to Trent. Of course, they have been linked with a few other right-backs as well.
It does feel like Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on the Premier League in their quest to improve their defensive depth. They have also been linked with William Saliba of Arsenal, Cristian Romero of Tottenham Hotspur and Murillo of Nottingham Forest.
