Kylian Mbappe kickstarted his Real Madrid career in the best way possible, scoring on his competitive debut against Atalanta, in the UEFA Super Cup final.
However, since then, the forward has not been able to find the back of the net. Mbappe has indeed gone without a goal in Real Madrid’s first two league matches against Mallorca and Real Valladolid respectively.
His performance against Valladolid was particularly impressive, as he lacked any particular chemistry with his attacking teammates.
Ancelotti on Mbappe’s struggles
Mbappe, though, has received crucial support from Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, who has backed the Frenchman to make a comeback.
Speaking to the press after Real Madrid’s win over Valladolid, the Italian suggested Mbappe will eventually score his first goal for Real Madrid in La Liga.
“Mbappé? He has no restrictions to play as a number 9. He moves very well and has 3 or 4 chances. He will score them eventually as he has always done,” Ancelotti said (h/t ESPN), responding to questions about the Frenchman’s form.
Mbappe will have a chance to score his first goal in La Liga when Real Madrid take on Las Palmas on Thursday.
However, prior to that game, it is essential the former PSG superstar steps up his training and understanding with his attacking teammates, including Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo.
Las Palmas, after all, are known for their defensive solidity and will put out a strong showing as they play hosts to the reigning Spanish champions this midweek.
