- Real Madrid interested in Aymeric Laporte
- Carlo Ancelotti gives approval to transfer pursuit
- Laporte still has two years left to run on lucrative Al Nassr contract
It has been reported that Carlo Ancelotti has signaled his agreement for Real Madrid to make an attempt to acquire the services of Aymeric Laporte.
Los Blancos have been said to be interested in making a bid for the center back for quite some time, but their desire to improve in one particular area of the field has been more pressing as of late.
As a result of the free transfer of club captain Nacho Fernandez to Al Qadsiah of the Saudi Pro League, Madrid has suffered a loss. Additionally, Manchester United has been able to acquire Leny Yoro from Lille, thus gaining a competitive advantage. To add insult to injury, it is not anticipated that veteran defender David Alaba would return from an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament until the very end of the year 2024.
According to AS, Ancelotti has ‘given the green light’ for Madrid to pursue Laporte, despite the fact that there are issues regarding a deal. This is due to the fact that Madrid is currently lacking in center backs.
The transfer price for Laporte, who now earns an annual salary of €24 million with Al Nassr, is not something that Madrid intends to pay. In order for the 30-year-old player to be sent to the Santiago Bernabeu, he must first be freed from the contract that he is now under.
It has been proposed by Laporte’s agent that he forego the remaining 48 million euros that he is entitled to earn over the course of the last two years of his contract; however, Al Nassr has rejected this proposition.
The club is ultimately calm about the issue, despite the fact that recent rumors stated that Al Nassr had convened an emergency meeting to examine Laporte’s predicament. However, AS has denied that this meeting really took place.
Despite the fact that Laporte would want to play for Madrid, he is not in a hurry to leave Saudi Arabia because of the lucrative nature of his current deal.
On the other hand, Laporte has not participated in La Liga since 2018 when he was playing for Athletic Club. After that, he joined with Manchester City. Laporte was a prominent player for Spain during their great campaign at the Euro 2024 tournament. The next year, in 2023, he was sold to Al Nassr.
A left defender for Bayern Munich named Alphonso Davies, who is entering the last year of his contract at the Allianz Arena, is another player that Madrid continues to be interested in.
